- Having a bigger Seudah (meal) all of Chanukah
- Retelling the story of the Chanukah Miracle. (Kinda like on Passover)
- Increase in Charity particularly to support the poor in Torah study
- We do not fast on Chanukah
- Women do not work during the time of the lighting of the menorah and men are to work to ensure that is possible.
Other traditions that have become customary:
- Eating foods fried in oil to remind of the miracle with the oil like latkes and donuts.
- Playing the dreidel game.
- Giving the children gelt, money, not gifts.
- Eating Dairy to remind of Yehudis.
